Police: Lakewood robber snatches cash from register as clerks ring him up

Police are trying to identify a man who they believe robbed seven Lakewood businesses recently by grabbing cash from registers as he pretended to make purchases.

In all the robberies, he went to make a small purchase, then grabbed cash as the clerk rang up the sale, according to Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers.

The robber is described as black, in his 20s, about 6 foot and stocky. He was wearing a knit beanie cap or nylon doo-rag on his head during each robbery.

They happened:

• March 24 at the McChord Mart convenience store at 5105 Solberg Dr. SW.

• March 25 at 7-Eleven convenience store at 10814 Pacific Hwy SW.

• March 25 at a 7-Eleven convenience store at 9923 Gravelly Lake Dr. SW.

• March 25 at a 7-Eleven convenience store at 10812 Bridgeport Way SW.

• March 30 at a Subway restaurant at 7801 Bridgeport Way W.

• March 31 at the El Valle convenience store at 10650 Bridgeport Way SW.

• April 9 at a Jack in the Box restaurant at 9815 Gravelly Lake Dr.

Tips are anonymous and can result in a reward.
