A new trail will be dedicated Saturday at Larrabee State Park near Bellingham, Washington State Parks officials announced Monday.

Rock Trail is scheduled to open Saturday at 10 a.m. The grand opening event is at the park’s Cyrus Gates Overlook Parking lot.

The 1.2-mile trail will only be open to hikers and will include such features as a 50-million-year-old sandstone rock formation, a log bridge, views of Mount Baker and 100-foot staircase. It will cut the hiking distance from Lost Lake to the lookout from the current distance of four miles.
