A 19-year-old man trying to flag down help after a car accident Sunday was run down and killed by a passing vehicle, Lakewood police said Monday.
The driver did not stop and police were asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
The vehicle was a tan or white Ford Windstar-type minivan driven by a young white man with at least three others in the vehicle, police Lt. Chris Lawler said. The minivan likely has front end damage near the right front fender. It also might have damage to the undercarriage.
The hit-and-run victim was identified as Tauave Seiaute of Tacoma.
The accident took place about 5 a.m. in the 4000 block of 96th Street South. After driving off the road and crashing, Seiaute walked into the road to flag down help, police said.
Seiaute’s passenger told officers he yelled at the driver but the minivan kept going.
Anyone with information on the driver or the vehicle was asked to call Lakewood police at 253-830-5000 or the department’s tip line at email@example.com
