Christian jazz group to hold fundraiser for Golgotha Baptist

The News TribuneApril 22, 2014

A big band music group called The Jazz Disciples will hold a benefit concert for Golgotha Moldavian Baptist Church on May 4 in Tacoma.

The Midland-area church was destroyed by fires twice in five months. Both blazes, including the most recent fire in February, were ruled arsons.

The Jazz Disciples perform traditional Christian hymns to big band arrangements.

The concert will be at 5 p.m. May 4 at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 S. Orchard St., Tacoma.

Some of 25 members of The Jazz Disciples have ties to the burned-out church building. They had been members of the former Harvard Covenant Church, which merged with Praise Covenant. Praise Covenant sold the building to Golgotha Baptist.

Admission to the concert is free. An offering will be collected during the program to help Golgotha Baptist rebuild its church.  For more information, call Rosalie Olson at 253-495-3022 or email her at
