Unemployment rate in Pierce County falls again

Pierce County unemployment fell to 7.8 percent in March, the jobless rate continuing to hover around 8 percent, according to state Employment Security Department data released Tuesday.

A year ago the jobless rate was 8.8 percent. It fell to 8.2 percent in February and then fell again in March.

Regional jobless rates for March, not seasonally adjusted:

-King County (Seattle, Bellevue): 5.4 percent

-Kitsap County: 6.7 percent

-Thurston County: 6.9 percent

-Pierce County: 7.8 percent

-Mason County: 9.4 percent

-Lewis County: 10.7 percent

-Grays Harbor County: 11.4 percent
