Think you can’t draw? Or maybe you already really love doodling? Either way, the bookstore at the University of Washington, Tacoma has a workshop next Monday that’s designed to inspire your own design. Artist Rose Reeves will teach the Zentangle method, a style of drawing that builds images from structured, geometric patterns.

From the press release: “More than just doodling, the meditative art practice has gained recent popularity and generated praise for its ability to promote creativity, mindfulness, and an increased sense of well-being.”

Following a series of steps and repetitive patterns without preconceiving the final design, the Zentangle method is both creative and focused, and appeals to people who are otherwise apprehensive of freehand drawing.
