THURSDAY’S highlights

In track and field, Central Kitsap junior Hudson Keffer threw the javelin 201 feet — a personal best by 14 feet — to help the Cougars defeat Yelm in a 4A Narrows League meet.

In fastpitch, Kayla Smith pitched a two-hit shutout as White River beat Franklin Pierce, 5-0, in an SPSL 2A game. Stephanie Franco went 2-for-3 for Franklin Pierce.

In boys soccer, Jon Brown’s third-minute goal started the scoring, and Davis McCall had a hat trick as Gig Harbor routed Yelm, 9-0, in a 4A Narrows game. The Tides’ victory avenged a 3-1 loss to Yelm on March 19.

Nick Iregui scored in the 86th minute for second-place Charles Wright, but first-place Bellevue Christian’s Bennett Close answered two minutes later to force a 1-1 tie in a Nisqually 1A showdown.

Jose Ramos scored in the 15th minute, and Sergio Barajas had five saves in Foss’ 1-0 win over Mount Tahoma in a 3A Narrows game.

In girls golf, Bellarmine Prep’s Olivia Benzin shot an even-par 35 at Fircrest in a 156-101 win over Stadium in the 4A Narrows League.

In boys golf, Bellarmine Prep’s RJ Manke shot an even-par 71 at Fircrest, but Stadium claimed a 104-67 victory in the 4A Narrows.
