Federal Way man sentenced 6 1/2-years for fatal crash

A Federal Way man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide for driving drunk and causing a December 2013 crash that killed a passenger in his car was sentenced Friday to 6 1/2 years in prison.

Jeffrey Waterfall, 56, drove a car into a telephone pole in the 29000 block of Redondo Way South on Dec. 23 in Federal Way, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Kurtis D. Nevin, 52, was killed in the crash.

When Waterfall was taken to a hospital to be evaluated, testing indicated he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.232 percent, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
