FRIday’s highlights

Donovan Miller connected on a three-run homer in the sixth inning to help Alex Rivera (six innings pitched, eight strikeouts) pick up the win in Graham-Kapowsin’s decisive 11-3 win over SPSL South foe Emerald Ridge.

Sean Connors’ fourth-inning RBI double proved to be enough in Spanaway Lake’s 1-0 win over Federal Way in SPSL South action. Dakota Pearce scored the winning run after stealing second before Connors’ double.

Wilson’s Kayla Washington had a big day, striking out six Central Kitsap batters in a complete-game performance as the 3A Narrows League’s third-place Rams won, 4-2, over the 4A Cougars. Washington also added a two-RBI triple that sparked a four-run third inning for the Rams offense.

Bethel’s Rylee Thomas struck out 10 Rogers hitters to help the SPSL South Braves defeat the Rams, 9-6, at home. Brittany Genuardi went 2-for-3 and drove home two runs in the win.

Federal Way’s Joseph Decena scored in the 73rd minute to help the fourth-place Eagles to a 2-2 draw with Emerald Ridge in a SPSL South boys soccer matchup. Jason Schmidt (penalty kick) and Daniel Brewer (70th minute) gave the Jaguars the lead before Decena tied the game late.
