Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Clint Dempsey bagged a brace at CenturyLink Field on Saturday to guide Seattle Sounders FC to a comfortable 4-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids.

The two sides were level until the closing stages of the first half when Seattle netted a stoppage-time opener. Obafemi Martins slipped a through ball into the path of Dempsey, who squared a pass for Lamar Neagle to tuck home from close range.

The Sounders emerged from halftime and picked up where they left off in the first half as Dempsey scored twice inside the opening seven minutes of the restart.

The United States international doubled Seattle's advantage in the 47th minute by turning in a rebound conceded by Clint Irwin. He then added a third in the 52nd minute by getting on the end of Chad Marshall's header and nodding the delivery over Irwin's outstretched arm and into the back of the net.

Colorado pulled one back in the 62nd minute when Dillon Serna latched on to Nick LaBrocca's through ball to slide one past Stefan Frei, but Seattle restored its three-goal lead with 15 minutes to play as Martins collected Neagle's throw in and curled a shot past Irwin at the far post.

Seattle (5-2-1) is unbeaten in its last four league outings as it improves to 16 points on the season. Colorado (3-2-2) stays on 11 points, suffering its first defeat since falling to Sporting Kansas City on March 29.
