Jays purchase contract of Getz

Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays purchased the contract of second baseman Chris Getz from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Getz was hitting .309 in 18 games for Buffalo.

In 78 games with the Royals last season, Getz hit .220 with one homer and 18 RBI.

In six big league seasons, Getz has a .251 average with three homers and 111 RBI.

The Blue Jays had optioned second baseman Ryan Goins to Buffalo on Monday to make room on the 25-man roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, the team released pitcher Mickey Storey.
