Theologian Barbara Brown Taylor to speak in Tacoma

Episcopal preacher Barbara Brown Taylor will read from her latest book at Tacoma's Immanuel Presbyterian Church on May 8.

Taylor was recently named by Time Magazine as one of its 100 most influential people. 

Taylor's new book, "Learning to Walk in the Dark," explores the spirituality of darkness, which she describes as a necessity for a spiritually healthy life. The free 7 p.m. reading will be followed by a reception and book signing.

The best-selling author is often recognized as one of the top preachers and theologians in the nation.
