Flowery Branch, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Falcons exercised the fifth-year option on wide receiver Julio Jones' contract on Tuesday.

The fifth-year option means that Jones' contract will run with the Falcons through the 2015 season.

Jones played in five games last year before hurting his foot on Oct. 7 against the New York Jets. The Alabama product had surgery and missed the rest of the season.

Prior to the injury, Jones caught 41 passes for 580 yards and two touchdowns.

The Falcons selected Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He has caught 174 passes for 2,737 yards and 20 touchdowns in 34 career games with Atlanta.
