Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Cubs activated pitcher Jake Arrieta from the 15-day disabled list and placed outfielder Ryan Sweeney on the DL.

Arrieta will make his 2014 debut against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. He missed the first month of the season with right shoulder tightness.

The right-hander was traded from Baltimore to Chicago on July 2 last season and then compiled a 4-2 mark with a 3.66 ERA in nine games with the Cubs.

Sweeney, who is dealing with a right hamstring strain, is batting .200 with two doubles and six RBI in 20 games this season.

The Cubs also selected the contract of outfielder Chris Coghlan from Triple-A Iowa, optioned pitcher Zac Rosscup to Iowa and transferred pitcher Kyuji Fujikawa from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

In 2013, Coghlan was limited to 70 games with the Marlins due to a right calf injury and batted .256 with 10 doubles, one homer and 10 RBI.
