Last call came early Saturday night at Terry’s Office Tavern in Tacoma when a car crashed into the front of the building around 11 p.m.

A Tacoma woman, 35, lost control of her Honda and struck four vehicles in the parking lot before smashing into the business in the 3400 block of North Proctor, Tacoma Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.

The woman appeared to be “dazed and confused” when police arrived, Cool said. She was taken to an area hospital but did not appear to be injured.

Police suspect alcohol might have been a factor, but the investigation is still ongoing.

David Hecht, a bartender who was working at the time, said he heard “two big booms,” then saw the vehicle plow through the front wall.

“Everybody was like, whoa,” he said. “You see that kind of stuff on crazy TV shows, where they show crazy video footage or in a movie. You never think you’re going to see it (in person).”

Hecht said firefighters and police officers arrived quickly. He said none of the 20-25 patrons in the building at the time were injured, but the damage to the bar was significant.

Hecht said the bar closed for business immediately following the crash Saturday night, but he and others were able to repair the damage enough Sunday morning to open at noon.
