Lakewood police release video of vehicle in fatal hit-and-run

Staff writerMay 5, 2014

Lakewood police detectives continue to scour surveillance footage looking for clues in last month’s fatal hit-and-run accident.

Tauave Seiaute, 19, was killed April 20 in the 4000 block of 96th Street Southwest after he stumbled out of his friend’s stopped car and was struck by a passing vehicle.

The driver did not stop although Seiaute’s friend yelled at him. Seiaute’s friend crashed his car shortly before Seiaute was hit and killed.

Police on Monday announced they found video from a transit bus showing the suspect’s vehicle fleeing westbound on 96th Street Southwest shortly after the 5 a.m. accident.

It is described as a two-tone minivan with a lighter stripe at the bottom of the vehicle. The minivan appears to have running boards.

Police have said the driver was a younger white man and he could have had up to three passengers.

Anyone with information on the driver or the minivan is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department at 253-830-5000 or 253-830-5064.
