Thursday women's night among upcoming cycling events for women

Tacoma’s Old Town Bicycle shop is hosting a free women’s night on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The 2-hour seminar will offer tips for riding safer and faster and is designed for women of all experience levels.

The store will offer special discounts during the event and serve food and drinks.

On Sunday, May 11 - Mother’s Day - CycloFemme comes to Tacoma. This is a collection of bike rides around the world celebrating women. There will be rides in 23 countries and 42 states and two in Tacoma.

- The VeloFemmes will lead a ride along the waterfront starting at the Spar, 2121 N. 30th St., today at noon.

- Performance Bicycle, 2220 S. 37th St., hosts a casual one-hour ride for “beginners and those getting back in the saddle” at 9 a.m.
