Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics placed relief pitcher Ryan Cook on the 15-day disabled list Friday, retroactive to Thursday, with a muscle strain in his right forearm.

Cook strained the forearm in his pitching arm in the 10th inning of the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader. The 26-year-old right-hander, who began the season on the disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, went 0-1 with a 2.92 earned run average over 12 relief appearances prior to the injury.

Oakland also optioned pitcher Dan Straily to Triple-A Sacramento Friday and recalled pitchers Fernando Rodriguez and Joe Savery from Sacramento.

Straily struggled over seven starts this season, going 1-2 with a 4.93 ERA. The 25-year-old right-hander issued 15 walks in 38 1/3 innings and is tied for the Major League lead with nine home runs allowed.

Rodriguez hasn't pitched in the majors since Oct. 3, 2012 after undergoing Tommy John surgery on March 27, 2013. The 29-year-old went 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA over 11 games at Sacramento this season.

Savery, 28, went 4-0 with one save and a 3.86 ERA in 10 relief appearances with the River Cats this season.
