Sam Merrill and Tracey Scalici will lead a Black Hills Audubon Society walk Saturday at Woodard Bay. The field trip is designed for beginning and intermediate birders.
The roughly 2-mile walk starts at 8 a.m. and will end at 11 a.m. or noon. There will be a chance to view a great blue heron rookery and old rail trestles that are home to a large bat colony.
Participants should bring water, snacks and binoculars, if you have them. People planning to use the small lower parking area need a Discover Pass.
Advance registration required. Call the Audubon chapter at 360-352-7299 to sign up. The trip is limited to 15 people.
