Parents of students at Truman Middle School in Tacoma received a message from their principal Tuesday describing an alleged attempted child-luring incident that happened Monday morning about three blocks north of Truman, on Pearl Street.
A Truman student reported the incident to school officials Tuesday, according to a note from Principal Justina Johnson sent to parents. Police were notified.
Johnson’s note described the suspect as a white, chubby, scruffy-looking male, about 26 years old, with dirty-blond hair. He is about 5-feet-3-inches tall and was wearing a black oversized sweatshirt and nylon sweat pants.
Johnson reminded parents to tell children to stay away from strangers and walk in pairs or groups, if possible. She also asked parents to let kids know that they should immediately notify school staff or another trusted adult about inappropriate contact or suspicious circumstances.
