Use your lunch hour to help fulfill college dreams for local kids

The College Success Foundation – Tacoma Empowering Youth luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. May 20 at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center, 1500 Broadway in Tacoma.

Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. KING-5 sports reporter and Puyallup native Chris Egan is the luncheon emcee.

Advance reservations are $100, and organizers ask that you RSVP and register by calling 253-439-5807.

Money raised at the luncheon will help low-income, underrepresented students overcome barriers and earn a college degree. Founded in 2000, the Issaquah-based College Success Foundation provides individual mentors, academic advising and financial support to students.

The College Success Foundation - Tacoma serves students from seventh through 12th grade. To date, 632 College Success Foundation- Tacoma Scholars have earned their bachelor’s degrees, 191 have graduated with an associate degree and 480 are enrolled in the current academic year.
