A 20-year-old Tacoma man died Wednesday after he rolled his car in Mason County and it became submerged in Lake Cushman, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He has been identified as Joseph Dusek.

His passenger, a 19-year-old Lacey man, was able to escape the car. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

The accident took place about 6:15 p.m. as Dusek drove a 2000 Audi TT south on North Staircase Road, about 14 miles west of Hoodsport.

Troopers said he lost control of the car, which rolled and landed upside-down in the lake.

The State Patrol is still investigating what caused Dusek to lose control of the vehicle.
