Tacoma News TribuneMay 15, 2014

The body of a 46-year-old ski mountaineer from Seattle was recovered Thursday by two North Cascades National Park rangers.

John Cooper IV was killed Wednesday on Mount Shuksan after a snow slide swept him over a cliff resulting in a fall of more than 2,000 feet.

His skiing partner, a 37-year-old Seattle resident, was uninjured and called for help using his cell phone. Cooper had skied Shuksan previously.
