Eatonville couple dead in homicide-suicide identified

Staff writerMay 16, 2014

An Eatonville couple who died Thursday in an apparent homicide-suicide has been identified as Keith and Julie Johnson by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police said Keith Johnson, 40, fatally shot his wife at their home in the 100 block of Madison Avenue before driving to a friend’s house and shooting himself.

Friends of the Johnsons heard the shot that killed the man and called police, who found Keith Johnson dead in a pickup truck parked out front. A handgun was found inside.

Officers then went to the couple’s home and found Julie Johnson, 37.

No motive has been released, though investigators said Keith Johnson had demonstrated strange behavior in the days leading up to the deaths, including locking himself in dark rooms.

The couple had two children, a 16-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.
