Man who died after wrecking motorcycle into creek near Orting identified

A Buckley man who died after crashing his his motorcycle and falling into a creek Friday was 21-year-old Jared Neff, the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday.

Neff wrecked about 3:30 p.m. while trying to negotiate a curve alongside Voights Creek east of Orting, a tributary of the Carbon River, Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The man hit some logs and fell into the water, and was swept about 200 yards downstream.

Firefighters performed CPR, but Neff died at the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
