Stadium High photographers take top honors in state competition

Tacoma's Stadium High School has won first place in the 2014 state photography competition.

 "We finished with 25 points to win the overall competition for the first time in school history, said Jeremy Leffel, photography and AP design teacher at Stadium.

There were 4,100 entries from all over the state and the following Stadium students placed in their respective categories:

Sarah Johnson – 1st place – Documentary

Lauren Schultz – 2nd place – Documentary

Emma Joy Miller – 2nd place – Color

Brandon Hamilton – 3rd place – Architecture

Gateon Abels – 4th place – Still Life

Max Reynolds-Rivera – 5th place – Camera Phone

Sarah Johnson is eligible for the Best in Show award with her first place finish in Documentary. The top three images in each category will be traveling with the exhibit to various locations, including the Tacoma Art Museum and the Seattle Art Museum.

The awards ceremony will be in Seattle on June 5.
