Woman set on fire in South Hill trailer park dies

Staff writerMay 19, 2014

A woman set on fire in South Hill this month died from her injuries Sunday, Pierce County sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The 34-year-old woman had been at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle since May 1, when prosecutors say her boyfriend doused her in gasoline and set her on fire.

Officials did not release her name Monday.

Angel Reyes, 39, pleaded not guilty to first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree arson and resisting arrest, and is being held pending $1 million bail.

He was also seriously burned, deputies said, and was released from the hospital Wednesday and booked into Pierce County Jail.

The fire happened in the Hidden Glen Mobile Park, in the 7600 block of 159th Street East.
