Staff writerMay 21, 2014

A man who was hit and killed by a car while crossing a Tacoma street Monday has been identified as Oliver Poole.

Poole, a 59-year-old Puyallup man, was halfway across the road in the 6100 block of Sixth Avenue when he was struck about 7:45 p.m.

Police said the 37-year-old driver apparently didn’t see Poole. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been involved. The driver was not arrested.

Poole was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where he died.
