Construction on the Nisqually to Paradise Road at Mount Rainier National Park is on on hold until Tuesday to reduce delays for visitors.

Visitors to the part will find 12 sections of the road without pavement below Longmire.

According to a statement released Friday by the park, “Visitors are advised to stay in their designated lane. Changing lanes to avoid a rough surface through these areas is nearly impossible, and attempting to do so creates a dangerous situation, especially

around blind curves with the potential for unseen oncoming traffic.”

When construction resumes May 27, visitors should expect 30-minute delays on weekdays at the park.
