Audubon chapter holds bird drawing contest

May 25, 2014

The Pierce County students in grades 2-7 can take part in the Tahoma Audubon Society’s 15th annual bird-drawing contest.

This year’s drawing subject choices are the rhinoceros auklet, American crow and varied thrush. Participants are urged to research and observe one of those species, and then draw the bird as it appears in its natural habitat.

The submission deadline is Tuesday. Entries may be mailed or dropped off at Tahoma Audubon, 2917 Morrison Road W.,

University Place, WA 98466.

There will be an artists reception on June 19 from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. at the Tacoma Nature Center, 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma.
