Road work to resume Tuesday at Mount Rainier National Park

Tacoma News TribuneMay 26, 2014

After a holiday weekend of clear sailing on Mount Rainier National Park's Nisqually to Paradise Road, construction is set to resume Tuesday morning. And so are the delays.

Park officials say visitors should plan for an extra 30 minutes of drive time each direction on the road. There are 12 sections of road without pavement and under repair below Longmire.

The works is the first of two two-year projects on the road. Work is expected to continue on weekdays at the park into early fall.

Westside Road remains closed after rock fall damaged the road and an unoccupied vehicle earlier this month.
