Man pleads not guilty in crash that killed woman in Spanaway

A man charged with hitting and killing a woman as she crossed state Route 7 in Spanaway has pleaded not guilty.

Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered ReneMichael Navarro, 26, jailed in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Prosecutors said Navarro was drunk March 11 when he struck Jade Nicole Aubrey-Peterson, 25, as she crossed the 2100 block of SR 7. She never regained consciousness after the crash and later died at Tacoma General Hospital.

An arrest warrant was issued for Navarro last week.
