A man charged with fatally shooting an acquaintance outside a Federal Way apartment complex was ordered jailed Thursday in lieu of $2 million bail, according to the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

Bernard “Crucial” Bellerouche, 27, is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the May 7 death of Demario Washington.

Bellerouche is scheduled to be arraigned June 12. He faces 27 to 35 years in prison if convicted as charged, prosecutors said.

The shooting happened outside the Silver Shadow apartments in the 27600 block of Pacific Highway South. Police said Bellerouche argued briefly with Washington, 27, before shooting him in the back of the head.

A witness told detectives he heard the men arguing about loyalty, court records show.

Bellerouche is also a person of interest in a May 13 shoot-out in Federal Way that killed George Gabriel, a Marine who was visiting his mother and got caught in the crossfire. He is also suspected in a Des Moines shooting that injured a man.
