Bruce Kendall, president and CEO of the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County, will deliver the keynote address at Bates Technical College’s 74th commencement exercise, scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday May 30 in the exhibition hall of the Tacoma Dome.

The Economic Development Board was established in 1978 as a partnership between private business and the public sector to encourage economic development in Pierce County. Kendall serves on several boards, including the Washington Aerospace Partnership, the Institute of Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma, and the Tacoma-Pierce County Workforce Development Council.

In addition to Kendall, other commencement speakers include business and management training instructor Judae Bost’n and administrative medical assistant program and high school graduate Sara Johnson.

Annually, more than 800 students complete their education at Bates. On Friday evening, approximately 300 graduates will return to celebrate their educational achievements and participate in the ceremony.
