Rainier Beach 4-star guard Murray commits to Huskies

The University of Washington’s 2015 men’s basketball recruiting class could shape up as one of coach Lorenzo Romar’s best.

That notion was further bolstered on Tuesday night, when Rainier Beach guard Dejounte Murray announced on Twitter that he plans to play basketball for the Huskies.

Murray, a 6-foot-5, 175-pound guard, is the most sought-after 2015 prospect to commit to UW in his class. He is considered by both Scout.com (46th) and Rivals.com (78th) as one of the nation’s 100 best players in the 2015 class. Both of those outlets rank him as a four-star prospect.

According to Scout.com, Murray also had offers from California, Gonzaga, Washington State and Oregon.

If UW’s oral commitments hold true, the Huskies could end up with a 2015 class that includes Murray; three-star Rainier Beach point guard David Crisp (who plans to attend prep school during the 2014-15 season); and four-star forward Marquese Chriss from Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, California.

The early-signing period for basketball prospects begins Nov. 12 and runs through Nov. 19. If players don’t sign during that window, they may sign between April 15 and May 20, 2015.
