Tacoma News TribuneJune 5, 2014

If you're planning on visiting University Place this weekend, plan ahead. The city's annual Duck Daze festivities begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Duck Parade down Bridgeport Way.

The route runs between 27th to 37th streets, ending near the city's civic center. Bridgeport Way will be closed to traffic during this time.

The parade ends where more activities will be held for people to participate, including food, shopping and live entertainment.

More than 50 exhibitors are expected to display items, there will be arts and crafts for kids, pony rides, bounce houses, rubber duck races and more. The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium will also have some of its animals on display and the Parrot Ambassadors will be there.

Caribbean-style steel drums will fill the air with Ian Dobson's Pan Leggo performance. The fire and police will host an open house and vintage and classic cars and motorcycles will be on display at the UPTown Cruisin’ Car Show. Early risers can come at 9 a.m. to see the cars before the parade begins.

Festivities run until 3 p.m. at 3609 Market Street West. For more detailed information about the Duck Daze Festival, visit the City’s website at, or check out the event’s Facebook page at
