Dining alert for Frederickson: Two restaurants are on the way

Staff writerJune 5, 2014

East Pierce residents in the restaurant desert between Spanaway and South Hill will want to hear this news – two locally-owned restaurants are slated for the Canyon Crossing shopping center in Frederickson.

Farrelli’s, the local pizza chain, will open an outpost sometime between mid-to-late July. Ayothaya, a popular South Hill Thai restaurant, is expecting to open its second location in Canyon Crossing later this year.

For those who recall this story about Ayothaya, the original opening prediction shifted forward several months because of a delay with a building permit. The restaurant is expecting a building permit to be issued as early as next week. After the permit is issued, construction is expected to be completed in three months. Find more information about Ayothaya here.

Farrelli’s is opening its seventh restaurant in Frederickson (other Pierce County outposts are in DuPont, Tacoma, Sumner and Parkland). Expect a similar format to the restaurant’s other locations featuring wood-fired pizza, with a few additions: An outdoor dining patio and pour-your-own-beer tap tables in the bar (for diners 21 and older, of course). The restaurant will seat about 200 diners. Find more information on Farrelli’s here.

In other South Hill/Canyon restaurant news, Sushi Oyama has begun a remodel of the old Sakura Buffet space just off Meridian and 120th. On Canyon and 112th, San Blas Mexican Restaurant has opened where Melaque Tres Mexican Restaurant previously operated.
