Lakewood man charged in brutal attack on girlfriend arrested

Staff writerJune 6, 2014

A 27-year-old man charged with severely assaulting his girlfriend for two days during a drunken fit at their Lakewood apartment was arrested Thursday night.

A warrant was issued in April for Michael Hilton after Pierce County prosecutors charged him with first-degree rape, three counts of second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment in connection with the August 2012 attack.

Hilton is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

After accusing his then-girlfriend of looking at another man, Hilton allegedly punched her until she passed out and hit her in the face with a liquor bottle. He also sexually assaulted her, sliced her toes and used a small folding knife to cut her neck, according to charging papers.

By the time the woman escaped and sought help, she had slash marks on her neck, her eye was swollen shut and she needed stitches in her toes.
