New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell, the skipper for the American League squad in the All-Star Game at Minnesota's Target Field, announced Wednesday that Ron Gardenhire of the host Twins and Cleveland's Terry Francona will serve as his coaches next month.
Francona twice previously managed the AL side in an All-Star Game, with Farrell his pitching coach for the 2008 Midsummer Classic at old Yankee Stadium. This is the third stint as an AL coach for Gardenhire, who was a member of Mike Scioscia's staff in 2003 and assisted Jim Leyland in 2007.
Red Sox coaches Arnie Beyeler (first base), Brian Butterfield (third base), Greg Colbrunn (hitting), Dana LeVangie (bullpen), Torey Lovullo (bench), Juan Nieves (pitching) and Victor Rodriguez (assistant hitting) will join Farrell in Minnesota.
Dave Pruemer, head athletic trainer of the Twins, and Kevin Harmon, head athletic trainer of the Texas Rangers, round out Farrell's staff.
St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny named Atlanta's Fredi Gonzalez and Pittsburgh's Clint Hurdle as coaches for the National League team.
Hurdle was an NL coach under Jack McKeon in 2004, and Gonzalez served on Tony La Russa's staff in 2007.
The entire Cardinals' coaching staff -- Mike Aldrete (bench), Blaise Ilsley (bullpen), Derek Lilliquist (pitching), John Mabry (hitting), Chris Maloney (first base), Jose Oquendo (third base) and Jamie Pogue (bullpen catcher) -- will accompany Matheny to Minnesota.
Greg Hauck, athletic trainer of the Cardinals, and Ben Potenziano, assistant athletic trainer of the Pirates, also will be on the NL staff.
The 85th All-Star Game will take place July 15.
