Tacoma school on brief lockdown as police sought burglary suspect

Tacoma News TribuneJune 12, 2014

Edison Elementary School was on lockdown for 15 minutes Thursday afternoon as Tacoma police sought a burglary suspect in the vicinity of the school, located at 5830 S. Pine St., Tacoma Public Schools spokesman Dan Voelpel said.

He said the lockdown, which began about 1:20 p.m., was initiated at the request of Tacoma Police.

Police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said police were unable to locate the suspect, but that there were unconfirmed reports that he had stolen a gun. Edison kids were cleared from the playground and sent back inside the school during the police search.
