Gov. Jay Inslee will make an appearance Saturday, June 14, at a National Get Outdoors Day outdoor expo on the Washington State Capitol Campus in Olympia. The expo is 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and will include hiking, equipment demonstrations, games, educational displays and live music.

The legislative building will be open for tours during the Get Outdoors Adventure Awaits Expo,  one of five similar events offered at state capitols this spring. The Olympia event is staged by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and the Washington State Parks Foundation.

“One reason Washington is such a remarkable place to live is because of its remarkable beauty. National Great Outdoors Month and Get Outdoors Day provide a great opportunity for all of us to experience the beautiful parks and outdoor places that make our state so unique,” Inslee said in a prepared statement. “This Expo is the perfect place to find ideas for family trips and adventures close to home.”

Inslee will speak at the closing of the expo. About 25 kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Thurston County and the South Sound YMCA will camp overnight on the Governor’s Mansion lawn.
