Staff writerJune 18, 2014

A Gig Harbor man is suspected of trying to strangle his girlfriend Wednesday.

Neighbors in the 10900 block of Creviston Drive NW called 911 after hearing a woman screaming. The man, 32, tried to strangle his 30-year-old girlfriend and used a pillow to muffle her screams, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The woman was taken to the hospital, he said. Her condition was not immediately available.

The victim told deputies her boyfriend has threatened to kill her in the past. The man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment.

Further details were not immediately available.
