Worker killed in accident at Fife warehouse

A worker at a Fife warehouse was killed Monday after a 11,500-pound piece of equipment fell on him, police said.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as 58-year-old David King, of Tacoma. He reportedly worked at Gensco for more than 20 years.

The accident happened just before 11 a.m. at the Gensco warehouse at 4402 20th St. E. The worker was helping to move the heavy piece of machinery used to bend metal when it toppled over on him, police Lt. Tom Thompson said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The state Department of Labor & Industries is investigating the accident.
