A semi-tractor trailer fire has snarled the morning commute on Interstate 5 in Federal Way.
A semi-track was merging onto northbound I-5 just south of state Route 18 about 2 a.m. when another semi rear-ended it, according to the Washington State Patrol. One of the trucks burst into flames.
One of the drivers reportedly injured his wrist. The other was not injured.
The collision and fire blocked three right lanes and have caused traffic to back up over six miles, according to the state Department of Transportation.
WSDOT reports that the HOV lane in that area is open to everyone. Drivers are encouraged to use state Route 99 or state Route 161 as alternate routes.
A tow truck is one scene removing the charred truck. Cleanup crews are working to remove the load of paper cups that spilled over the freeway after the crash.
