Paving project to cause delays on SR 161 in Eatonville

Staff writerJune 28, 2014

Eatonville residents and commuters should expect delays on state Route 161 starting Monday.

Crews will prepare for a chip seal project on the state highway from Lynch Street East to about 395th Street East, according to a news release of the state Department of Transportation. The project will also include pavement repair on SR 161 near 314th Street East and state Route 7 near 276th Street East.

Drivers will experience daytime and possible night-time single-lane closures, the release states; all closures will occur after 9 a.m.

Crews will work Monday through Friday, but no work is expected July 3-4. The project is scheduled to end in late July.

Speed limits will be reduced to 35 mph during chip seal operations with an advisory speed of 25 mph, according to the release, and motorcyclists and bicyclists are advised to use extreme caution due to loose rocks in the work zones.
