Man missing in Roy area found

Staff writerJune 29, 2014

A man prone to seizures who was missing in the Roy area Sunday was found after an alert went out to residents’ phones, asking them to help find him.

About 7,000 residents signed up to receive such alerts got the message Sunday morning, within a 14 mile radius in the Roy area, around where the 47-year-old man was last seen by 288th Street East and 8th Avenue East, Pierce County Emergency Management spokeswoman Sheri Badger said.

Residents were asked to check their property and vehicles, and to call law enforcement if they saw him.

Badger said later that night that the person had been found. He had gone to a local hospital. She did not immediately know his condition.

Residents can sign up to get Pierce County Alerts on their cellphones, landlines and other devices at http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/index.aspx?nid=921.
