“Spamalot” is a hit. The Lakewood Playhouse’s production of the much beloved Monty Python Broadway musical has sold out every one of its performances. In response, the community theater is holding over the show for an extra weekend.

The show’s new closing date is July 20.

The Tony-award winning musical, with book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, has a cast and crew of 25 in Lakewood. They all agreed to extend the show, said Managing Artistic Director John Munn.

“We have never sold out a show for every performance since opening night. We are overwhelmed by how much Python Fans, both new and old, have embraced this show,” Munn said.

By adding another weekend the theater can sell 450 more tickets, Munn said.

Here’s more from the announcement:

The show will be performed on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. SPAMALOT Ticket Prices are $29.00 (General Admission), $27.00 (Military), $26.00 (Seniors) and $24.00 (Students/Educators).

ABOUT THE SHOW: SPAMALOT is a musical comedy "lovingly ripped off from" the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways, beginning with women slapping men in the face with fish. The Winner of the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Parental Advisory: Large, heaping amounts of Crude Humor with some side-orders of Innuendo, a Bit of Cursing and a cornucopia of Naughty Bits not suitable for the entire family. Well, maybe your Aunt from Yelm...She's a bit progressive
