Kent firefighters rescue man from burning house

Staff writerJuly 1, 2014

Kent firefighters rescued a man from inside a burning abandoned home early Tuesday.

Crews responded about 2 a.m. to the fire in the 1400 block of Maple Lane. Some firefighters began dousing the flames from outside the house while others went inside to search for anyone who might have been trapped.

Firefighters carried the man outside and treated him for smoke inhalation before taking him to an area hospital.

It is unclear what the man was doing inside the house.

The blaze was extinguished in 40 minutes, according to the Fire Department.

A cause has not been determined.
