Detectives seek help identifying Spanaway convenience store robber

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives are asking for help in identifying an armed man who held up a convenience store June 3 in Spanaway.

The robber walked into the Smoke & Grocery in the 14900 block of Pacific Avenue about 10 p.m. and pretended to buy a candy bar. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled out a knife, grabbed money from the register and ran.

He is described as Native American or Hispanic, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. The robber had black hair worn in a bun or short ponytail and was wearing black pants and a gray and black plaid long-sleeved shirt.

Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction.
