Outdoors activities for 4th

If you are looking for some outdoor fun on the Fourth of July, take the ranger-led walk to see the 90-foot Marymere Falls in Olympic National Park.

If you are you looking to start your holiday celebration with an outdoor recreation event, there are a couple of options on Friday (July 4).

Runners might want to head to Steilacoom for the Four on the Fourth 4-mile race. It will start at 9 a.m at the Town Hall of Steilacoom, 1717 Lafayette St., Steilacoom. The cost is $11 or less. For information, contact 253-537-8712 or databarevents.com/4onthe4th.

At the Tacoma Nature Center, the staff will lead its regular volunteer stewardship habitat restoration work party. The work will take place from 9 a.m-noon Friday. The center is at 1919 S. Tyler St., Tacoma. For more information, contact 253-591-6439 or tacomanaturecenter.org.

If you are going to be at Olympic National Park, you can take guided the walk to Marymere Falls at 10 a.m., hear at ranger talk at 10 a.m. at Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center or join the ranger-led walk from the Hurricane Ridge center at 11:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. For more information, go to nps.gov/olym.
